I've grown up not to believe that human beings are utterly good or purely evil, but capable of different extents of both, given myriad circumstances in life.
For studious dark fantasy thinkers, we also refer to denizens of Lower Planes known as gehreleths, yugoloths, tanar'ri, and baatezu.
We know of control evil, where everyone else must be slave, and the slightest wrong revenged.
At the other end of some spectrum is ego evil, with which everything else has no value to be conserved, marked for destruction to satisfy whatever personal whim, quench every personal desire.
