Spending lots of waking time learning limited, outdated stuff most of your childhood and early youth, only to continue doing so, plus slaving at work in other people's organisations for the rest of your adult and elderly lifespan, under other people's control - and that's the best life you can ever have - this is not normal.
Earning not enough money, to spend too much of it too soon, and then continuing to slough to do so for the rest of functional adult life, for impermanent material statuses and illusions of property - it is of course abnormal to live such a common, majority way.
As well as following the mainstream, comfortably ensconced in the majority, riding the current fashions, apeing the prevailing newspeak - the perverse is the mode, the familiar and comforting actually bizarre and inhumane, upon clear-minded reflection.
Normal society today has therefore been not, for a long time.
